THIS was a tough first pre-season friendly for the Argyle youngsters who were up against a Category One Academy in Wales.

The young Pilgrims started well and more than held their own in the terrific heat of the first half with Klaidi Lolos hitting the home crossbar and Rio Garside seeing to efforts blocked.

Swansea were able to field a completely new side for the second half and this told on the Argyle youngsters who never gave up despite conceding three goals and they could have gained a late consolation as Rubin Wilson when close in the dying moments of the game.
