AN Argyle side which included several under-16 players in its ranks finished their EFL Youth Alliance League South West Division programme with their second highest defeat of the season.

Only last October's crushing defeat at Bournemouth was worse than this defeat in Oxfordshire, with the Pilgrims shipping three goals in the opening half-hour, and a fourth from a second half United penalty.

Academy Manager Phil Stokes said: “We were punished for poor defending and although we improved in the second half the result was already in the bag for Oxford.”

The Academy must now await confirmation of who they will be playing in the Merit League Two.
