Helston 1 Argyle 3
ARGYLE were made to work hard in recording another important win to finish 2018 at the top of the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League.
The Pilgrims started brightly and a good run and pass from Alex Battle was fired over by Calum Dyson. The opener did arrive on 19 minutes and a fine finish from Ryan Law, rifling home a cut-back by Lionel Ainsworth.
Helston, to their credit, kept on pushing at the other end and threatened with a couple of corners, while Dyson headed over a decent cross from Ainsworth just before half-time.
Tyler Coombes, a product of the education programme with Argyle Community Trust, made a couple of good saves before Alex Fletcher scored a decisive second on the hour.
Helston pulled one back from a free-kick that was parried into space for a close-range goal but Fletcher was again on target with a third to confirm the win.
