Up for the Cups
1st November 2015
ARGYLE may be hitting their stride atop the Sky Bet League 2 table, but Derek Adams is looking forward to focusing on other competitions in upcoming games.
The Pilgrims stretched their lead at the top of the table to five points with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Morecambe, courtesy of exemplary left-footed finishes from Graham Carey and Craig Tanner in the opening 12 minutes.
“It’s the eleventh game we’ve won this season,” said Derek. “It’s a very good points total from our opening fixtures, and it’s just about keeping that momentum going.
“All we want to do is keep picking up points. That’s all we can do. We look to try and win the next game that comes along, and if we do that, we’ll keep our feet on the ground.”
The Greens now take a two-week break from League Two action, hosting Carlisle United in the Emirates FA Cup first round next weekend, before playing Millwall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area quarter-final, and the boss is relishing the new challenges.
“I think it’s good,” said Adams. “I think we’ll enjoy going into the FA Cup with the points total we’ve got, and then we’ve got the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
“I think we need a rest from the league campaign, and we’ll enjoy the cup competitions now.”
