Cheltenham Under-18s 4 Argyle 4
Three goals in the dying moments at Quat Goose Lane saw Plymouth Argyle's Youth team gain a vital point which maintains their three point lead over second place Cheltenham.
"It was an end-to-end game in which both sides had plenty of chances to score," said Academy Manager Kevin Hodges, "but unfortunately Cheltenham took most of theirs. It was not until near the end that we found out scoring boots.
"If you don't do your defensive duties correctly then you pay the price but all credit to the lads as this was a lesson in keeping going until the end and never giving the game up."
Cheltenham were gifted a ninth minute lead by a Liam Knowles own goal but Argyle leveled, on 31 minutes, when Billy Palfrey scored with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
Good combination play led to Cheltenham restoring their lead inside five minutes with their third arriving three minutes after the break, when the home striker outpaced the Argyle defence to fire past Michael Cooper.
The game looked beyond Argyle, 12 minutes from time, when a set play was only partially cleared for the home striker to fire home from seven yards with Argyle appealing in vain for offside.
Argyle threw younster Matt Wood into the action on 82 minutes and within six minutes he had opened his account when he met Jamil Roberts' delivery at the back stick to fire home.
Fellow substitue Cameron Sangster headed Argyle's third, on the stroke of normal time, and he struck again, two minutes later, showing good reactions to send another header into the home goal.
Argyle: Michael Cooper, Billy Palfrey, Jordan Bentley, Liam Knowles, Jamil Roberts, Dan Rooney (Owen Jones 90+4), Aaron Taylor (Cameron Sangster 78), Alex Battle, Luke Jephcott (Matt Ward 82), Jason Vincent, Alex Fletcher.
