Sea of Support
13th May 2015
THE Green Army will be in full force once again for Argyle’s return play-off clash against Wycombe Wanderers...
...and John Sheridan has called upon his players to give them a performance that deserves their excellent support.
Sheridan had one of the best positions inside of Home Park to witness the incredible showing of defiance in the face of adversity in Argyle’s Sky Bet League 2 play-off semi-final first leg, as their sea of support inspired the team to recover from 3-0 to 3-2 and give them every chance of turning the tie on its head this Thursday night.
“I really do believe that the supporters played a big part in getting us something out of the game,” said John. “It’s difficult when you’re watching a game, you’re 2-0 down in the early stages and then 3-0, but I didn’t hear any negativity.
“They got right behind us and I really do believe they played a big part.”
An extra allocation of 300 tickets at Adams Park means that 2,100 members of the Green Army will be in attendance for the second leg, and the boss wants his team to repay the faith shown in them by the fans through their on-field display.
Asked if he had a message to offer the fans, John said: “I don’t have to give them a message. It’s about getting the result we’re after – we all know what we’re after.
“We know what the fans will be like: it’ll be like having 5,000 fans there, but we have to get them right behind us straight away with the way we’re playing, and it could make Wycombe really nervous.”
