ARGYLE forward Matt Lecointe is expected to return to the club by January after having a successful operation on his knee this week.

The 19-year-old product of the Pilgrims youth system, was forced to miss the whole of last term after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament but Pilgrim fans will be relieved to hear of Lecointe’s progress, who is now facing a spell of three months on the side-lines.

Argyle manager John Sheridan said: “He’s had his operation and I think everything has gone okay.

“Really, it was just a clear-out – they’ve trimmed things inside his knee – and hopefully, we’ll see him in three months, which is good news. I think we’re probably looking around January time.

 “I spoke to Paul [Atkinson, Head Physiotherapist] this morning. I think Paul is comfortable with everything that’s happened, so everything’s alright.”
