17th March 2014
THE first half of this Youth Alliance League match at Langsford Park gave little indication of what was to come after the break.
The first 45 was uneventful with neither goalkeeper called in to serious action but the second period was just two minutes old when Argyle opened the scoring.Skipper River Allen pounced on a loose ball to fire a low shot in to the bottom corner of the Robins' goal from 15 yards.
Four minutes later a long clearance from Argyle 'keeper Andrew Hannah found Solomon Wheatley raced clear and the left-winger unerringly netted with a first angled lob from 20 yards.
The Robins 'keeper Aaron Moody produced a fine save, minutes later, to keep our Wheatley's header and deny him a second goal in the match.
Argyle made it 3-0 on 65 minutes when Allen's left-wing, inswinging, corner was palmed away by Moody but the ball went straight to Nathan Summers who slammed the ball in to the net from 12 yards.
Swindon hit back, four minutes later, as Luke Matthews scored with a header from a free kick by Jake Evans.
In the last minute Argyle defender Aaron Bentley made a crucial goal-line clearance from Salvyn Kisitu to secure the Pilgrims fifth consecutive victory
