SCOTT Mathieson will take charge of his second Argyle game of the season when he takes to the field for Tuesday evening’s match with Newport County.
His latest game in charge of the Pilgrims was the 1-0 loss earlier in the season to Hartlepool, but this time around Argyle will be looking have better fortune and claim what will be a much needed three points.Mathieson may be remembered by the Green Army as he was the man who gave Paul Bignot his marching orders in the Pilgrims 2-0 loss to Stourbridge in the first round of the 2011-12 FA Cup.
The Cheshire official has run the rule over Argyle ten times in the past and is somewhat of a bad omen. The Greens’ only win with Mathieson in charge was way back in the 2003-04 Division 3 promotion campaign when Ian Stonebridge gave Argyle a 1-0 win over Blackpool.
Mathieson has been in charge of 28 games in total this season, brandishing 92 yellow cards, seven red cards and has awarded eight penalties; that’s one every three-and-a-half games.
His assistants at Rodney Parade will be Richard Martin and Mark Pottage.
