9th September 2013
ARGYLE youngsters returned from Exeter with a well deserved Youth Alliance point from this close encounter the Cat & Fiddle Ground.
Argyle were slightly fortunate in their opening goal, on 10 minutes, when the home 'keeper's attempted clearance was blocked by Solomon Wheatley and the ball flew straight in to the path of striker Ethan Stark who added to this two goals against Oxford by tapping the ball home from close range. The Grecians replied, 14 minutes later, when Cameron Gill beat two defenders inside the penalty area before firing home from 12 yards.
Ryan Lane, pictured, restored Argyle's advantage, on 33 minutes, with a brilliant solo effort that saw him crown a 20 yard dribble, in which he beat two defenders, with an angled 15-yard drive.
The Grecians came back strongly and Argyle 'keeper Andrew Hannah twice, before the interval and once immediately after the break, produced fine saves to thwart the home strikers.
The home 'keeper did well to save a 25 yard effort from Joshua Hutchinson before Exeter drew level when Hannah was beaten by a powerful low 25 yard drive from Gill.
