Nurturing Nelse
16th November 2012
HE may have played over 70 times for the Pilgrims, but it’s easy to forget that Curtis Nelson is only 19 years old.
The former Stoke City schoolboy first burst on to the scene during the 2010-11 season, and after finding first-team opportunities limited last season, has now played 14 times this term.Argyle manager Carl Fletcher, who played alongside Nelse on a number of occasions, has been impressed with the youngster’s form so far this season.
Carl said: “Nelse’s come back this season and he’s worked hard and come back really fit.
“He’s willing to learn which is pleasing and maybe, when he played before, people expected too much of him - asked him to do things he maybe wasn’t that comfortable with.
“He’s so athletic and strong and good in the air, so it’s making sure that he does the things that he’s good at and that he does them really well and then everything else will take care of itself.
“It’s a case of knowing your game and is the same with every player. It’s about playing to your strengths.”
