Family Zone For All
24th July 2012
PLYMOUTH Argyle are launching a pioneering new family area for the new season.
The Family Zone For All will house not only Pilgrims’ fans on match-days, but, uniquely in the lower leagues, be open for away fans.Young supporters will be able to engage in a variety of invigorating pre-match activities where the emphasis will be on participation and getting active before the game.
Argyle acting chief executive Martin Baker said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of the new Family Zone For All at Home Park.
“Plymouth Argyle prides itself as being a family-oriented club at the heart of our community, and we want supporters of all ages to be able to enjoy match-days in a safe, friendly and fun environment.
“Our Family Zone is for all the family and for all supporters, regardless of the colours they wear.
“We extend an invitation to families of our opponents, as part of the wider family of football, to join us and share in the Home Park match-day experience.
Work has begun on transforming the area under Blocks 19 and 20 at the Barn Park end of Home Park, and on Tuesday, local artist Tom Keeling held an art workshop with some young people from Coombe Dean Summer School to decorate part of the family area.
The Family Zone For All will be run by the club’s Football in the Community Trust and will offer a wide variety of games and exercises offering work-outs for mind and body.
There will be a soccer skills mini-arena, mini-climbing holds, basketball and giant Jenga, as well as digital rowing and digital sports with Wii Fit and Wii Sport.
Children will be able to earn activity stamps which go toward their Children’s University Passport for each Family Zone For All activity they take part in.
There will also be a range of healthy snacks and drinks on sale from a dedicated catering outlet.
The Family Zone For All will open at 1.30pm on match-days, starting with the home npower League 2 game against Aldershot on Saturday, August 18.
Martin Baker said: “Families who have already bought a Family Membership for the 2012-13 season but who want to move to the Family Zone For All will be able to do so.
“Please contact the Ticket office and our staff will be more than happy to relocate you.”
A Family Membership at Argyle, for one adult and one child under the age of 18, costs £375 for all 23 npower League 2 matches, which works out at just over £16 per game.
The Membership package also includes additional benefits including: priority tickets for home cup games; a Junior Greens ‘Meet the Players’ day; free room-hire at Home Park; an invite to regular club events; discounts in the Argyle Superstore, at Akkeron Hotels, and on Saltrock clothing; and, for the youngsters, a signed birthday card.
A second adult from the same family can be added to the Membership at a concessionary rate of £250 – as opposed to £340 – while additional children will be charged at just £30 each.
There is also a Family+ Membership, for £450, which also comes with a free replica shirt, a free match-day programme, and free access to Argyle Player, the members’ only video and audio area of the official Plymouth Argyle website.
A match-day Family ticket costs £25, a discount of £2 on the combined price of an adult ticket and a junior ticket.
Following the announcement of the opening of the Family Zone For All, every Argyle supporter buying a Family Membership or a Family match-day ticket will be seated in the Family Zone For All seating, in Blocks 17 and 18.
There is separate Family Zone For All seating for visiting families among away supporters in the Barn Park end.
