Fans’ Food Appeal
7th December 2012
EVERY day, people go hungry in the UK, with many families and people in and around Plymouth regrettably struggling to make ends meet.
However, Argyle supporters and the club are joining forces this year to help ensure as many people across their city have a cheerful Christmas this year. The Plymouth Foodbank was set up as a community project to help these people, and on Saturday at Home Park – when the Pilgrims play York City in an npower League 2 game – the Argyle Fans’ Trust is holding a Christmas Appeal when fans can donate food and money for those less fortunate.
All donations are welcome, especially tinned goods such as tomatoes, fruit and vegetables, and dried goods, including sugar, milk, rice and pasta.
Last year saw an incredible collection, where fans donated more than 250kg of food through the ‘Can a Fan’ appeal, and we firmly believe our supporters can exceed that target this year.
There are two collection points – the Trust Gazebo and the Green Taverners’ Suite – where there will be willing volunteers there to collect fans’ goods.
The Green Army also wants to send gratitude to many Tesco stores, from Newquay to Ivybridge, who will be supporting and donating to this very worthy cause.
In addition, the Trust welcomes the support of Forza Verde and the Green Taverners, who are providing invaluable help.
