2003/04 Title Winners to be honoured in special event
Just over 20 years on from one of the most memorable seasons in Argyle history, some of the key figures are returning to Home Park for a very special event.
Many of those involved in the title-winning campaign of 2003/04 will be in attendance as we celebrate the achievements of that sensational promotion season.
It was only two years after Argyle had won what was then known as Division Three, that the Pilgrims claimed another league title, amassing 90 points and finishing seven points ahead of Queens Park Rangers.
Who will ever forget that glorious April day when the Greens sealed promotion and the title, all in one afternoon, and Gordon Sparks famously proclaimed: “2-0. That’s it. Argyle are up!”
The event will take place in Club Argyle, at Home Park, on Sunday, 21 July. Many of the players who propelled Argyle to glory will be in attendance, heading in from all parts of the country – and beyond.
Legendary former boss Paul Sturrock, who laid the foundations for this and other wonderful seasons, will be formally inducted as a Forever Green Icon during this event, and his successor, Bobby Williamson, is flying in from Kenya to be part of the festivities.
Doors will open at midday, for a 1pm start. The event is expected to finish at approximately 5pm. There will be reminiscences of that season, including highlights on the screens, interviews with the players and managers – plus, your chance to ask questions, have pictures taken, and more.
Included in the price of the tickets will be a barbecue-style hot-fork buffet, teas and coffees, and a 20th Anniversary Celebration Brochure.
Season ticket holders, Evergreen members and Club Argyle members can attend this event for £50+VAT. All other supporters will be £55+VAT.
You can book your place via argyletickets.com; by calling 01752 302206 during working hours; or by email on hospitality@pafc.co.uk.
All proceeds made from the event will go to the Forever Green Fund – a benevolent fund for former Argyle players. Click here for more details on Forever Green, and how it is benefitting our alumni.
