We are delighted to welcome leading global luxury yacht manufacturer Princess Yachts to the Argyle family as part of a landmark new Plymouth partnership.
Princess Yachts, one of Plymouth’s largest employers and a great success story of Britain’s Ocean City, has committed to a significant staff benefits partnership with both the club and Argyle Community Trust.
By partnering with Princess Yachts, Argyle will offer over 1,000 opportunities for Princess staff to attend matches, host team building activities with employees, and provide mascot opportunities and places at half term courses for Princess employees’ children. Through the partnership, over £5,000 will be generated for local charity, Plymouth Children in Poverty (PCIP), in addition to 150 team shirts being donated to local school and football youth clubs.
Argyle Chief Executive Officer Andrew Parkinson said: “We are delighted to welcome Princess Yachts to the Argyle family, and we look forward to working together in the months ahead. It is testament to the hard work and increasing reputation of both the club and Argyle Community Trust that such a high-profile and reputable organisation would seek to partner with us.
“Not only does this partnership offer traditional commercial opportunities through ticketing and branding at Home Park, the involvement of our Trust ensures a rounded and community-focused approach to the partnership.”
The club’s Head of Commercial Operations, James Greenacre, said: “This is a unique partnership within football, two of the most prominent South West brands working together to achieve something really positive. It is great to see that Princess Yachts, one of the most iconic companies in our city, sees the value of partnership with our forward-thinking and ambitious club. In my view, it is a sign of how far the club has travelled in a short space of time, and how much potential we have for further growth. Alongside the Argyle Community Trust, we look forward to working together to create a truly successful partnership.”
Graham Maxa, Chief Financial Officer, Princess Yachts, said: “During 2021, a working group was formed with representatives from both Princess Yachts and Plymouth Argyle to explore a staff engagement programme.
“The team have since constructed a range of opportunities that will initially aim to target over 1,000 of our employees and their families. As a keen football supporter, I would like to see this as the starting point for developing a longer-term partnership and thank James and his team for his flexible approach in providing an initial truly tailored offering for Princess Yachts.
“By combining this programme with the Plymouth Children in Poverty charity and the wider local school communities, this illustrates how the partnership of two Plymouth brands can drive support to the wider community.”
Children in Poverty are a local charity collaborating and bringing together private, public, charitable and educational sectors to facilitate effective, long-lasting projects that can make a difference to improve a young person’s future.
Argyle’s significant partnership with Princess Yachts is mirrored by a similar arrangement between Princess and Plymouth Albion, and the collaboration was formally marked on Thursday, 27 January, when Argyle and Albion representatives joined Princess delegates for an exclusive event at Plymouth’s iconic Royal William Yard.
As part of the itinerary, manager Steven Schumacher and striker Luke Jephcott undertook their regular pre-match media call from the unique location of a Princess Yachts craft.
