Preview | Watford Women v Argyle
Argyle Women take on promotion hopefuls Watford this Sunday in their next FAWNL Southern Premier Division game.
The Pilgrims’ recent run of form has left a tangible buzz amongst the fans and players alike. Two league wins in a row as well as an emphatic cup victory have them sitting in eighth place, and manager Ryan Perks could not be happier with his side’s recent performances.
“The performance levels are growing each week, and the results are starting to come,” said Perks. “We had a good win against Gillingham last Sunday, we showed a bit of character and resilience. We’ve just got to take that into the game on Sunday.”
After Watford were relegated from the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, the Golden Girls have started their FAWNL return positively. A 6-0 win at home to Cheltenham Town is the highlight of their three league wins this season and as they have not dropped any points at home, this could prove to be a challenge for the visiting Greens.
“We played Watford a couple of years ago when we first took over,” said Perks. “They were a good side, big budget and had some quality players. They’ve retained most of their players and have started well this season, so it's going to be a very difficult game. But we’re on the back of three wins and we have confidence and momentum going into the game, so why not go up there and cause a bit of an upset?”
The game will be held at the Ruislip Manor Sports & Social Club, kick-off is at 2pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for concessions. If you are unable to make it to the game, updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
