Preview | Argyle Women v Marine Academy
Argyle Women return to Manadon Sports Hub this Sunday for their first outing in the Click Hub Devon Women’s Premier Cup against local side Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies.
After suffering a heavy 5-1 league defeat the previous week to promotion hopefuls Watford, Argyle will be looking to bounce back and regain confidence going into this weekend's cup match. Manager Ryan Perks spoke earlier in the week to share his thoughts on the Watford result and how it changes plans going into this weekend’s fixture.
“This weekend is a good opportunity to reset and bounce back from the result on Sunday,” said Perks. “We had good momentum before the Watford game, and we knew it would be a tough outing. We’ve just got to rectify that result and respond with a positive outcome against MAP so we can take that momentum back into the league straight after.”
Marine Academy play in the South West Regional Women’s Football League Western Division. Greg Mogford’s side will be looking to cause an upset this weekend and build on their most recent performance, having won 1-0 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round earlier in the month.
“We’ve just got to go into the game with the right mindset,” said Perks when asked how confident he and the squad feel going into the match. “We’re expecting to go there and win, it's just down to mentality. We’re not going to rotate the squad much and go in quite strong on Sunday. Hopefully, we can score a few goals and build on that for the Billericay game after.”
The game will be held at the Manadon Sports & Community Hub, kick-off is at 2.30 pm, tickets cost £5 for adults while Under-3s have free entry. If you cannot make it to the game, then updates are available on social media @ArgyleWFC.
