Pilgrims Sign New Sustainability Partner
Argyle have teamed up with national waste disposal firm Biffa, with the company coming on board as our new Official Sustainability Partner.
The deal will see Biffa take the lead on the club’s waste disposal requirements until the end of the 2022/23 season, helping the Pilgrims to continue to make strides in reducing our carbon impact.
As part of the agreement, which includes increased brand awareness for Biffa through stadium and editorial advertising, Biffa will place recycling bins throughout Home Park Stadium on a match-day, allowing supporters to dispose of plastics responsibly.
With supporters unable to attend Home Park Stadium in the short-term, the club is expecting to take receipt of these recycling bins ahead of the home clash with Oxford United on 29 December.
Peter Giddings, Biffa’s General Manager for Devon and Cornwall, said: “Biffa Plymouth are very proud to partner with Plymouth Argyle FC and become their Official Sustainability Partner.
“This is an exciting partnership that will develop a greener ethos across the club as well as providing a platform to work together on various community-based initiatives. The environmental message from the club is clear and we look forward to creating a sustainable infrastructure that will drive continual improvement and best practice.”
The partnership includes a commitment from both Biffa and Argyle to take proactive measures in promoting a greener culture at Home Park and beyond, and educational materials will be placed around the stadium on match-days, as well as through the club’s social media channels.
Argyle’s Partnerships Development Manager, James Voisey, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Biffa for a long-term deal, with sustainability at the centre of the agreement.
“As a club for the community, with strong Vision and Values, we acknowledge our responsibility to contribute to a greener future, and we are very much looking forward to getting started.”
